Decorate Your Outdoor Space With Mosaic Garden Planters

By Linda Hill

Beautifully decorated outdoor spaces are something you can enjoy in, especially when everything is blooming. Anyway, every picture needs appropriate frame, to make it complete. If you place your lovely plants into plain, boring, plastic containers, it simply won't be the same as placing them into something highly decorative and interesting.

If you want to put it all on even higher level, there are some other interesting things you might do. For example, you don't have to use boring plain pots, you can decorate your outdoor space with beautiful mosaic garden planters instead. They look really attractive and bring something special in your garden or any other space you want to decorate with luxurious plants. These plants will look even better in appropriate containers.

Mosaic is probably the best method for decorating terracotta pots, especially large ones. There are different patterns you can use for this purpose, as well as different combinations of colors. All possible shades of grey and brown, or so called earthy and stone colors, are always appropriate solutions for this type of decoration. Small fragments of stones and ceramics are often used, but other durable materials are also welcome.

Ancient motifs are something you simply cannot make a mistake with. Geometrical patterns or mimicking nature, for example, leaves and flowers, is also always a very good idea. Old Greek or Roman motifs are quite popular for this purpose. In any case, this decorating technique successfully transforms plain and boring terracotta containers and makes a great difference.

Mosaic technique mostly uses small, rectangular pieces of stones or ceramics. But, interesting effects can be achieved using irregularly shaped pieces of any durable material, for example, glass. You could also combine different materials. Or, simply take a hammer and some leftover ceramic tiles you keep in your garage, and give it a try.

You can achieve wonderful effects with almost no expenses at all. In fact, this might become a perfect little hobby for the whole family. Some old and unattractive plain terracotta pots may be easily transformed into something unique and special, simply using different leftover tiles and ordinary ceramic tile glue. Combining different materials, for example, inserting a few pieces of glass into ceramic tile made composition might look really effective.

Well, maybe you cannot spare time to deal with mosaic design, it's perfectly understandable. But, it doesn't mean you cannot have such lovely additions in your garden, in your patio or on your terrace. You will probably find different mosaic containers in some garden center in your neighborhood, but you will find much better choice online, if you would like to get something really special.

Well, your containers don't have to be in earthy shades, of course. There are so many possibilities. You can bring spring and summer into your garden using vivid colors, why not. Bright color combinations are just perfect solutions for some outdoor spaces, and you can achieve beautiful effects using them. Not to mention that you will enjoy spending time there. Give your creativity a chance and enjoy transforming your outdoor space.
