Homeowners spend a lot of time designing and preparing gardens and lawns and the last thing they would want to experience is destruction of the landscaping features by critters. One destructive critter you are likely to find in your garden is the mole. This critter is known to cause a lot of damage to gardens. Using a mole trap offers an effective way of eliminating such critters.

Although moles do not feed on plants, they damage the grounds where the plants are growing. Moles create tunnels all over gardens making the grounds look unsightly. When you see a series of tunnels in gardens, they might be caused by moles. A single mole can cause extensive damage on gardens and it is important to seek for methods, which can do away with them.

The tunneling of grounds exposes the roots of plants depriving them nutrients and moisture. If you see those holes everywhere in your gardens, it is possible that there are moles in the grounds. However, moles are not easily seen because they spend much of their time inside the tunnels. They only come out occasionally and you have to determine the exact location they are living.

After you have spent a lot of money and time in creating gardens, this is the last thing you would want to experience. The critters may not be easily seen because they spend much of the time inside holes and only come out once in a while. It may take time for you to know the area where they inhabit. Children and pets are heavy users of gardens and when they access those areas, they may find the baits and eat them. You do not want to poison children or pets by using baits. The same may apply to pets, which can eat those baits. Another method, which homeowners tend to use, is repellents. Using repellents does not produce good results. The only effective method is trapping moles using lethal traps. The traps are set in locations where you suspect the moles are living presently.

Since moles keep on changing locations, you will have to take some time to study their movements and discover the tunnels they are using as exits and entrances. That way, you can set the traps at the entrance of the tunnels. Make sure you set your trap properly otherwise, it will not capture the critters. There are different kinds of traps you can get in the market, and you should select the best ones, which are capable of trapping and killing the moles.
