Essential Tools Old Style German Shepherd Breeders Should Have

By Leslie Ball

When breeding dogs, a breeder should pay attention to what equipment he or she uses. There are definitely lots of great tools old style German Shepherd breeders can use when they are in the business of breeding puppies. Here are a few of those great tools that they can use when they are in the breeding business.

First, you need to have anti-pulling aids. Most of the anti-pulling aids that you can have these days might claim to help stop the dogs from pulling on the lead. However, these might rub, pinch, or squeeze the dogs. They are really not tolerated well. That is why you have to shop around well to find those harnesses and collars that the dogs can be comfortable with.

You also need to find a few bedding for the dogs that are in your charge. Know that the dogs are also in need of a comfortable bed they can sleep in. If you are buying a bed, it should be big enough for the dogs to grow into. They should be able to stretch out even when they are lying on the said bedding.

The puppies should be given food and water. These are important for the puppies. As important as their food and water would be the bowls used in the feeding. The bowls the breeder provides for the puppies should be non-slip. The ones for the food should be a separate bowl than the ones for the water.

Dog guards, car harnesses, and traveling crates. There are lots of cases when you have to transport the pets from one place to another. A good example would be when you bring the pets to their vet. In such cases, you have to secure these pets while they are in a car. The said tools should be the best to use for that.

Collars are important as well. When you are choosing a collar for your dogs, you have to pick one that is suitable for the dog's breed, size, and age. Remember that little dogs can grow quite rapidly so you better pay attention to the condition of the collar at least daily. They should not be too loose or too tight.

Pick out some grooming equipment for breeding. Dogs are known for moulting their hair. Thus, it is highly required of a breeder to groom the puppies regularly, especially when it is time for them to moult their hair. If these dogs are not groomed regularly, their hair can get stuck almost everywhere so it can be bad.

Get a good lead for the dog. Choose one that is really suitable for the size and breed of the said dog. It should not be too long or too short. It should not be too heavy as well. Find the one that is both strong and comfortable in your hands.

Poo bags should be stored in the inventory too. Know that this is a requirement stated by the law. This is because the poo bags are what you need to use when you are clearing up after the dog, especially when you are walking them in public areas. Of course, remember to dispose of these bags in appropriate bins.
