Planting A Blue Henon Bamboo Tree Is A Great Idea

By Ruthie Calderon

When designing a garden especially if it is in close proximity to the neighbour many people will try and buy plants, shrubs and trees to ensure some privacy especially if they have a swimming pool. Many tend to go for the bamboos and especially the blue henon bamboo tree. They are considered to be the better looking member of the Phyllostachys family and are drought as well as freeze resistant.

As they become older the poles turn from a green colour and a grey and a wax like dust forms. If they are planted in a shady area they will change into a sky blue colour. They are able to grow to six inches in diameter and many use them in the makings of furniture.

At Aaron's Farm they are able to sell this bamboo in clumps ranging at different prices. For a six inch wide shoot clump that reaches to six feet in length to the fourteen inch wide. When they are getting prepared to be shipped the clumps will be cut in half or thirds if they are over ten inches high. They are shipped twelve months of the year and can take about seven to ten working days to reach their designated destination.

The above one is used extensively in many business-related applications as it has a rather low need to be maintained. It also has a very pretty appearance. They were planted at the Turtle Back Zoo when they were preparing to introduce the White Handed Gibbons. Many other species were considered but because these were large it would allow the Gibbons to swing and climb just like in their natural habitat.

When material is made from bamboos the fibres will need to be broken down by adding chemicals and then forced through spinnerets. The most used chemicals are carbon disulfide, lye and a variety of different strong acids. They will normally be referred to as bamboo fabric or bamboo rayon.

Its branches grow from nodes and the canes are thick and tend to form a perfect place for birds to build their nests. They can reach a height of fifteen feet and have a green and yellow variegation pattern reaching up and down the full length. Many love the smell it produces when the leaves are moved by the wind as the aroma will remind one of a freshly mowed lawn.

As it grows the stalks will begin to creep over the rim of the plastic and this is when one will need to trim them down. Fill the container with soil and if one prefers they can score the roots before lowering it into the container although this is not necessary as the roots will unravel and descend over time. Fill it up to the top with more soil and fertilise it with grass fertilizer.

For those that want a complete cover but live in very cold areas, the Black Bamboo is the one to choose. They are able to survive when the temperatures hit below twenty degrees. They can be planted in any landscape and will also grow very tall. The leaves are of a bright green and the canes can either be yellow or green variegated.
