Puppy Training Tips That Still Work

By Joseph Stan

You can't have a clean house with an untrained puppy. However, there are many people out there who are not sure how to train their dogs properly. The advice in this article will help you with that and other aspects of dog training.

Our first recommendation is to get your puppy a toy. A puppy should have chew toys to get him through the teething pains. Keep other things out of his reach. Give the dog one of its own chew toys right away. Teething pain can be soothed by a washcloth that has been soaked in water and frozen.

When it comes to the training never ever yell at your dog. You do not want to make your dog scare of you. Instead use the same tone of voice and volume when giving commands. Over time your dog will recognize the tone of your voice and understand they should obey. This can be quite helpful when you start training him to go out in public walks in order to always maintain control for his and your safety.

If you want to avoid accidents inside the house be sure to watch for signs from your dog that he needs to go outside to do his business. He'll do things like barking, sniffing the floor or pacing around the door. You'll need to watch for these signs and if possible make a habit of getting him outside at specific times. Each time your dog successfully does his business where you want be sure to reward him with a treat.

It is important that you are firm with your dog for effective training. However, this doesn't mean constantly yelling at your dog. Instead, find some balance between being firm and being loving. This will help improve the relationship between you and your dog. The tips you just read should help you train your dog and keep a clean house. Being consistent with your training can help you to raise a well behaved and happy dog.
