TICA Registered Cattery Exhibitor Etiquette Rules

By Ericka Marsh

Exhibiting cats can be a source of stress-relief for some people. For those who own a cat, this is the time for them to show off their adorable felines. Anyone can have their own purpose when it comes to the exhibitions. The bottom line is that it is such a happy event that both humans and cats can partake with.

For those who are participating in this event as an exhibitor, you have the responsibility of following the guidelines for this event. There are some TICA registered cattery rules set beforehand that an exhibitor must take note of. You have to abide by these rules strictly. Here are a few of those rules that you must take note of as a participating exhibitor.

First, you should pay close attention to the state of the claws of your pet. When you want to exhibit your pet, then you have to ensure that the claws of the pets are properly clipped, especially prior to benching. If you fail to get the claws of your pets clipped, then you will surely get disqualified from participating.

The exhibitors will be exhibiting their cats in the ring. When it is time to judge or even prior to the judging, the exhibitors are never allowed to sit in the ring and holding on to or cuddling their cats. The cats should be judged according to how they are seen alone in the ring. They may only enter the ring prior to or during judging when they have the explicit permission of their judge.

There is also another reason why this is the case. This is required so that the judge officiating the said exhibition will not be aware of which entries belong to an exhibitor. After all, the participating exhibitor is prohibited from making it known to any officiating judge, in any way, which of the entries belong to him or her.

In the same manner, the participating exhibitor is also not allowed to signal the officiating judge where his or her cats are placed in the ring. There will be questions on the fairness of the judging when such things happen so this is one of the guidelines and etiquette that must be followed by all participating exhibitors.

Another one that must be followed by a participating exhibitor has something to do with the judging of the officiating judges. It is not possible for the participating exhibitors to ask the judges to have his or her entries be judged separately from regular classes. That would be unfair, after all.

The cats and the people who are participating in this event should have their security and safety ensured. While on the ring for the exhibition, the exhibitors are forbidden from doing anything that may cause physical harm, either to their pets on the ring or to the people who are present in this exhibition.

Putting the pets in their best spot is one of the goals of the exhibitors. They want to put their pets in the best condition possible for them to show off their adorableness. In this case, they might want to use special cages. For this, they have to inform the organizers about it. They also have to avoid inconveniencing others for this.
