Chilling Out In A Greenhouse

By Carl Williams

Human beings first settled into an agricultural society. The omnivorous diet of a human being allows it to consume multiple types of food from meat to vegetables and even raw fish. As such, man has raised both flora and fauna to eat. But food for survival is not all that human society grows. Some grow for the hell it, just because gardening is a fun little hobby. A lot of that growing is done inside of a greenhouse.

The main reason that the world is not set on fire every day by the sun is because the planet has a protective gas layer, called the ozone layer. Now, ozone is made primarily of oxygen, which is the exact thing that plants give off after absorbing carbon. Now, not having plants around can make it very difficult to breathe, as people and animals and pretty much everything that evolved from the fish that grew legs and crawled out of some primordial sludge needs oxygen in order to breathe.

Human beings need to eat. The beautiful thing about the human being it that is an omnivorous animal, able to adapt to a variety of diets and able to consume multiple kinds of plants and pretty much every animal on the planet. But some people choose to forego the consumption of animal flesh. Many experts, however, advocate for a mixture of both meat and vegetables. The really good thing about eating vegetation is that they come packed with a veritable cornucopia of naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.

A glasshouse is a structure made of glass over a steel frame. The glass is not heavily tinted in order to let sunlight in. Now, most people use a glasshouse in order to grow foliage in but also to still be indoors.

The main purpose of one is the grow flora at leisure. Some plant life can attract animal life, having a glass and steel structure protects the foliage from becoming food. The structure can also be used to protect plants from people. Some people take gardening really seriously, having competitions and such. A glasshouse can keep a prized plant safe from interlopers.

Having a place to garden at leisure and in peace can be therapeutic for some people. Finally, food can be grown inside of one. Growing food makes the proprietors more independent of grocery stores and the like.

Having glasshouses on a property has some benefits. It can add value to the property. Also, having a place to grow vegetables makes a property a little more self sufficient.

With the way population rates are growing, the world may soon reach a crisis point. There may not be enough resources or enough space to cultivate those resources. Now, there is the option of vertical farming, which uses vertical space to cultivate crops, essentially moving the farm from the field and into the skyscraper.

The resources that human beings need in order to survive are renewable. But they are also finite. The trick is then to find a way to renew resources faster than they can be consumed.
